One Southern Indiana spotlights “Going Green” at sustainability conference



Keynote speaker leads Indiana firm focused on state’s energy “cleantech” sector

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – (September 28, 2009) – One Southern Indiana will host the Green Steps to Achieving Sustainability conference at Indiana University Southeast on October 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  This conference is designed for regional businesses considering the merits of “going green” and navigating the requirements for meeting related industry standards.

Local and national experts will be on-hand to present seminars covering a variety of topics including:

  • Financial Incentives for Going Green
  • Energy Management Systems
  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
  • Renewable Energy
  • Achieving Sustainability: Steps taken by successful companies

A “Lunch & Learn” session at midday will address common pitfalls contractors experience when managing green projects and is being led by Title Sponsor Stites & Harbison, PLLC.

Keynote speaker Paul J. Mitchell is president and CEO of Energy Systems Network (ESN), a consortium of companies and institutions focused on the development of Indiana’s energy technology “cleantech” sector.  ESN provides project development and coordination for joint ventures and cooperative partnerships between network members who are seeking to commercialize new energy technologies in a diversity of cleantech markets including advanced technology vehicles, distributed power generation, advanced biofuels, renewable energy, and energy efficiency.   Prior to joining ESN, Mr. Mitchell served in the Office of Governor Mitch Daniels where he was Policy Director for Economic Development, Workforce, & Energy.
