Genscape Launches Infrared Power Monitoring Service for ERCOT
W A Parish and other facilities now monitored via Genscape Infrared Plant Monitoring
LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 8 /PRNewswire/ — Genscape, Inc., the nation’s first and only supplier of real-time power plant output and transmission status information, is announcing the addition of the ERCOT region, including W A Parish, via infrared power plant monitoring to its suite of data services. The W A Parish plant is one of the largest generation facilities in North America.
The service is based on technology that allows Genscape’s customers to see, in real-time, a power plant’s production. In addition to infrared photos of monitored plants, customers will get a real-time data stream provided through the Genscape interface and data feed services. Genscape interprets the pictures to determine if the plant is running or not and estimates the megawatts being produced at the plant.
“This technology has allowed Genscape to monitor over 20 plants in urban areas that have previously been underserved by Genscape,” said Michael McAuliffe, Genscape’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, “we now have over 98% of all the coal and nuclear plants in ERCOT monitored.”
“We are excited to bring previously unattainable information to the ERCOT region with the launch of infrared monitoring. W A Parish is an important facility in determining the overall strength of generation in the region,” said Sean O’Leary, Genscape’s CEO and co-founder.
